HeadLight Upgrade 55/60

If you guys look over the big motorbike segment like those Suzuki, Honda .. i mean those really big bikes 500cc and above , they are all having battery powered headlight, like they have the circuit that feeds the headlight from battery and that way the headlight stays steady bright , no matter how slow you drive etc, so i have tried to make similar mod in my Falcon( LML Fredom 125).

I am trying to put down the stuff here with a circuit diagram. Its not hard to make the mod for this .

First of all here are the list of the things you are gonna need to make the modifcation.

  • Standard Headlight Relay 30 amps 12 volts high/low beam.

  • A standard Fuse Link or you can use standard fuse 8-10 amps would be great but i preffer 8 amps.

  • Good wires say like 3' length configuration say 5mm wire.
    Wire cutter.
    NosePlus, Screwdriver etc.

  • Wiring Tape both with adhessive and non adhessive type to make the wiring waterproof and avoid shortcircuit.

  • I have used 12v 55/60watt halogen bulb, and it works fine , Oh i have 130watt magneto.

  • The Battery should be at least 12v 7 ah one , mine is 9 ah though, so you can have a 9 ah that works better.

  • A toggle switch 3 pole , try som all bruss variant this works better in open atmosphere and water.

The very first step is to find out the Magnet Power Supply line of your motorbike which is running direct to the headlight switches and the pass by switch , after you distinguish that particular wire just cut the line and make the line discontinued so that magnet power doesnt run into the headlight switch and the pass by switch , now the task is to feed the batter power into the headlight switch and the passby switch through the relay and the toggle switch

One thing to you , why i am using this Toggle Switch ?

Basically if you run the bike in dark say like 2 hours or more it might be that the battery gets discharged a bit and thus the brightness of the headlight will be less , so once you are at steady speed this toggle switch will enable you to switch between battery power and the magneto power, i guess this one is handy stuff . Anyway all you gotta do is connect the relay as shown in the diagram, care shoud be taken so that there is no shortcircuit or the relay is not staying activated even if the headlight switch is turned off. Follow the circuit diagram and you will fine it easy to connect the headlamp holder wires with the relay and the power supply.

This is the toggle switch you can see 3 poles from left 1,2,3 number 2 pole is the pole that connects with the relay power supply and you can use 1 or 3 to magnet or battery .
This is the standard headlight high beam low beam relay 12 volt 30 amps rating
This is the photo i took after the relay being installed under the dashboard console box.
testing the voltage of the line comming from the battery
